Create a News Feed Category

To create a News Feed Category:

  1. Select Communities from the top navigation bar, then select Settings > News Feed Categories from the side navigation menu. The News Feed Categories screen is displayed.

  2. In the Display Name field, enter a name for the new News Feed Category.

  3. Click Create. The Edit News Feed Category pop-up window is displayed.

  1. The Label field is populated with the value you entered above; optionally edit this value.

  2. The Internal Name is automatically populated based on the Display Name value. This field is not editable by default. To edit the Internal Name, check Edit Internal Name. A confirmation dialog box is displayed; click Ok. Edit the Internal Name value.

  3. Optionally, to assign a thumbnail image to this item, click Choose File. Browse to and select the desired image file, then click Open.

  4. Optionally, in the Description field, enter a description of this item.

  5. Click Save.

Add a News Feed to a News Feed Category

After creating the News Feed Category, you can begin adding News Feeds to it. However, you can't add News Feeds to the News Feed Category from the News Feed Categories screen. Instead, you must navigate to the News Feed Details screen, and add the desired News Feeds one at a time to the News Feed Category.

To add a News Feed to a News Feed Category:

  1. Select Communities from the top navigation bar, then select News Feed from the side navigation menu. The News Feeds screen is displayed.

  2. Search for and select the desired News Feed (see Search for a News Feed for more information on the available search options). The News Feed Details screen is displayed, with the Posts tab displayed by default.

  3. Within the header area of the screen, click the Edit icon. The Edit News Feed pop-up window is displayed. 

  1. From the Categories drop-down menu, select the desired News Feed Category. Optionally repeat this step to assign the News Feed to multiple Categories.

  2. Click Save.
